Oral history interview with Beeler Haines, 1974 Nov. 27 / conducted by Susan Chappell.

Beeler Haines describes his experiences as a member of the blue ribbon grand jury during the cleanup of Phenix City following Albert Patterson's assassination in 1954. He compares this experience to his prior jury service and talks about the corruption and crime that had been rampant in the town. He talks about the cases they heard as well as the presiding judge, Walter Jones, and the prosecuting attorney, George Johnson. Mr. Haines also discusses his views about the results of the grand jury's work.
